If we could learn how to balance rest against effort, calmness against strain, quiet against turmoil, we would assure ourselves of joy in living and psychological health for life.

Kelly has been deeply immersed & mentored in the work of a somatic pilates approach for the past several years through Bodies Mind, in Marin County, California.  The work implements movement sequencing from Joe Pilates, approached through a somatic lens.  In both dance & pilates, Kelly focuses on gravity & bones.

In addition, Kelly has been moving her whole life, be it in gymnastics, skiing, swimming, hiking, surfing, etc.  She got her Bachelors of Interior Architecture & nearly minored in dance at the University of Oregon, with a focus mainly on modern (release technique) & African dance.  She then took years of release classes in the San Francisco Bay Area, primarily at ODC &  ROCO.

Her thesis project in 2000 was designing a “movement therapy center”, which she realizes, has continued to deeply permeate her life & work to this day.

She is a conceptual artist, focusing on large-scale public art & mixed media (be it installation, photography, dance, poetry, &/or video).  She has often tangoed the above with the gathering of people together for experiential events, as a type of “experiential curator” or “creative midwife”.

The cumulative years of influence around movement & the use of + perception of space via dance, architecture, art, pilates, & life have inspired & led her to teach.
