Yesterday was my first JUMP for my Marathon JUMP series for INFECTING THE CITY. I’ll be JUMPING for the next 7 days.
I really have to give my hat to PENINSULA RUNNERS for helping me out! They are delivering the bed to every location Every day for 8 days straight! Props!!
Yesterday we were at the entrance to the Company’s Gardens @ Wale St. This troop of xhosa children dancers was right next to me – I Love them! They are soo amazing: naked chests, grass skirts, white body paint, serious booty-shaking, drumming, & gorgeous xhosa rhyme. I hope I see more today at Greenmarket Square. I could watch them for hours.
Anyway – it was the right spirit to set up right next to them. In short, here’s how it went:
of course the kids were the Most apt to jump on. It was impressive to see the amount of hesitation from the grown-ups, but 9 times out of 10 there was a smitten smile of genuine surprise & appreciation for the gesture.
There were small moments of silence, & other moments of crowds of clapping & laughing.
I must say, my favorite moment was when I had a trendy asian girl, a big, black, african Mama, & a white rocker wearing an ACDC shirt all jumping at the same time. 🙂
LOVE IT!
Today is gorgeous, & I’m on it!
See you at Greenmarket Square from 12pm – 2pm
